Asparagus

20 May in The Cottage | Comments (2)

We are in the middle of the English Asparagus season, It’s one of my favorite things to eat and so my friend Jane and I drive to Durleighmarsh Farm near Petersfield every week to buy boxes of these delectable spears.

I’ll eat them any which way I can, whether its wrapped in smoked pancetta and roasted, dipped in hollandaise or smothered in risotto.

More often than not, we gobble them, lightly steamed, dressed in olive oil and lemon juice and sprinkled with shaved parmesan – delicious!

What’s your favorite asparagus recipe?

  1. Its your fault you, showed me the way Jens…. Fresh is just the best.

I am so envious they cost a fortune here in SA, but have, with the help of Ms Margaret Roberts PLANTED MY OWN :-) in our veggie patch… have had to demarkate a special spot… and now have to wait… ooo about a year!!!

My fave is steamed with a soft boiled freerange egg to dip them in and hot buttered toast :-

    Love lots H

  2. Goodness, that’s brave of you Heath! I ‘ve been given a bucket full of rather scary looking roots , that are sending up hopeful shoots – but what do you with them……..? Lovely to hear from you!
