Bridal Gallery

Deborah contacted me in May for bridal jewellery for her wedding on the 1st September. She chose a medium champagne crystal heart on champagne ribbon and a tiny champagne heart that she wanted made up as a headpiece. I was delighted when she sent me some photos this morning! What a stunning bride!

Strands of crystal jewellery

Every once in a while I need to re-stock my supplies of Semi –Precious Stones. It’s so hard to decide, among row after row of glorious colours and glittering strands. I debate, deliberate, change my mind, agonize, touch and dream and eventually make my choices. Never with my head and always with my heart.

I hyperventilate when handing over my debit card…

I come home with pirates treasure – but I’m not nearly brave enough when I have to face up to Dave when he asks “so how much have you spent?”

For weeks afterwards, my dreams are filled with ideas and designs. I hope you like what I’ll do with my hoard!

Onyx and Silver Necklace

Onyx and Silver NecklaceI am not a huge fan of Onyx for the most part, I think it can look a bit like plastic when it’s very polished, but I recently came across a strand that I could not resist. Large ovals of faceted matt onyx called to me… and I bought them!

I attached them to some heavy silver rings, to lighten the look and break the onyx up and used a really substantial Sterling Silver toggle clasp. Once it was made up I could not part with it and so have kept it for myself! It looks fantastic with a white T-shirt and jeans and even though it’s quite heavy and dark, I have worn it a lot through the summer (what summer??).

Because it’s not always possible to stock the same stones on an ongoing basis I don’t always add everything I make to the Twinkleberry site, so if you are interested in a necklace like this please contact me at jenni@twinkleberry.co.uk.

Cluster Bracelet

Crystal Cluster BraceletA client who had bought a pink lariat from me some time ago asked me to make a cluster bracelet to match.

I used a really unusual silver chain with lots of different semi-precious stones, crystals and pearls in white and shades of bright pink.

I crammed on as much as I could! I think it came out really well, it’s a substantial piece that glitters and flows as it’s worn.

The Bourne Ultimatum

The Bourne UltimatumDave and I have just returned home from watching “The Bourne Ultimatum”. We loved the first two and could barely wait for the release of the last in the trilogy – and it was fab!

I was a bit disappointed that it didn’t follow the book – Robert Ludlum’s “The Bourne Trilogy” more closely – but none the less – worth going to see. We’ve read the book, we’ve seen the movie and if there was a T-shirt – we’d be wearing it!

Apple Trees

Apple BlossomsWe have 2 ancient apple trees in the garden at Brush Cottage. In the winter they look like gnarled sculptures, especially when the snow lands on them.

In the spring though, the branches come to life with an abundance of blossoms and when I open my bedroom windows to this beautiful sight it feeds my soul and reminds me that warm weather is on the way.

The trees produce an abundance of fruit and I hate to waste it. This year I am after the perfect Apple Pie recipe… Do you have one for me?

Department Store Rant

Jenni ButtonI loathe department Stores. I dislike having to trawl through rail upon rail to find something and they just seem to leave very little room for individuality.

When I lived in South Africa, I loved going into the Jenni Button Boutiques. This designer uses wonderful fabrics and makes clothes ranging from the everyday to the outright glamorous and drop-dead gorgeous. Visiting her shops was also heaven for me because everything was so beautifully laid out; you could see the clothes without having to scrounge around.

My last pair of Jenni Button shoes is getting really worn out and so I was thrilled to come across her website recently – unfortunately the site is quite dismal, but the clothes are still dreamy! Fortunately I will be able to stock up next April when we travel to S.A. again!

Girly Bracelet

Millefiore Heart BraceletMy friend Louise is wonderful to work for. She loves jewellery, buys bits and pieces all the time , wears them and when she tires of a particular piece she sends it my way and lets me remake it as I please.

These lovely Millefiore hearts and ovals were originally strung on a tatty bit of leather thong as a necklace. I have taken them off and made a bracelet with them using a chunky Sterling Silver chain

I think she will love it. It’s light , fresh and girly and the silver chain is of a very good quality… maybe I should do something like this for a bracelet section of the site – what do you think?

Latitude 2007

Latitude Music Festival 2007Dave, Tessa and I went off to Latitude this past weekend. Now, I am not a camping kind of girl, so the blow – up mattresses we borrowed were much appreciated and I didn’t even care when someone walking behind me as I carted our mountain load of pillows in commented loudly that it’s not real camping if you bring your pillows…… Once the tent was set up (thank heavens for the techie, who managed to sort out all the rods and ropes and bits) we went off to hear some amazing music.

Check out Tom Baxter, Loney, dear, Angus and Julia Stone, Ra Ra Riot and Camera Obscura. Sadly we missed The Magic Numbers – which is one of the reasons we went! Why they were on at something like 6pm I can’t understand. The atmosphere was amazing, it was nice to hear bands I had never heard of and children were welcome. The festival ended with a real dilemma for me as Arcade Fire was playing at the same time as The Gotan Project and as I am so bad at making decisions I watched the first 5 songs of Arcade fire and the last half of the Gotan Project set. And I am so glad that I did as I would have been really sorry to have missed either one. Were you at Latitude? Tell me what you thought…..?

Jude Miller Paper Creations

Passion Flower Jude Miller

I came across Jude Miller’s website today and could hardly believe that her creations are made from paper!

I love it when someone who is obviously so talented finds their perfect vocation and is rewarded for it. Jude Miller must fall in this category.

Being a “flower” girl, I really struggled to choose a picture of her work to put up here – I think my favorites must be the Passionflowers, but for those of you who have contacted me recently for wedding jewellery – have a look at the Bindweed Garland, there are all kinds of wonderful things you could do with that!
