Keishi Pearl Cluster Earrings

This is my first pair of earrings of the year! I was asked to make a similar pair just before Christmas and that’s where the idea originally came from. I’ve combined the rich cocoa colour keishi pearls with sumptuous berry coloured tourmaline for this pair though. I’ve also used faceted smoky quartz and these are made using only 14ct gold fill.

Stackable Bracelet

This bracelet was a recent commission. I’ve made it using 3 strands that finish with a sterling silver toggle clasp. The 3 strands are made using faceted Rhodelite, labradorite, baby peacock freshwater pearls and pure silver droplets.

Most of the time, the jewellery I make, is something I would choose to wear myself. I am drawn to certain colours and I have a fondness for pearls and semi precious stones. By the time something is finished, I love it, but let’s face it, you can’t keep everything for yourself can you? There are some pieces which I haven’t been able to part with – the Gold Cluster Necklace for example is a one off piece, that I had to have and I wear it a lot.

Some time ago I came across two engraved silver discs . I’ve kept them, and have made a bracelet for myself with one of them – it’s a little “from me to me” and I love it. At the moment I like leather stackable bracelets, with hints of metals and I decided to do something similar with this disc – and so – my Hope, Faith and Love bracelet!

White Keishi Pearl necklace

Keishi pearls are a serendipitous accident. This happy mistake happens when the oyster rejects the nucleus of the pearl and spits it out before the culturing process has finished. The result is a pearl composed entirely of nacre and so keishi pearls normally have a very high luster.

I bought this strand of little white keishi pearls some time ago and have now strung them into a classic White Keishi Pearl Necklace. I love the little shapes clustered together, they remind me of perfectly white hydrangea petals. Because they are delicate, I have not knotted between each pearl, as I normally do with my pearl necklaces. I did not want to loose the way the pearls fit together, so they are intermittently knotted.

This is my kind of jewellery, something you would love wearing over and over, carrying you from your wedding day, to a day at the office or a white linen shirt with jeans.

Seed Pod Necklace

Talk has turned to Autumn. We can stop worrying about the weather, we know that from here on, it’s only a matter of time before summer leaves us with just a hint of bronzed skin. It’s time to light candles in the earlier evenings, welcome back boots, hats, scarves and coats. Snuggle by the fire – with red instead of crisp, chilled white and kick swathes of fallen leaves in our wellies.

The latest necklace on the site is the Seed Pod Necklace. It’s made of autumnal seed pods, all browns, chocolate, russet and amber, wonderfully patterned and strung on satin ribbon. A necklace to welcome in the new season.

Coin Pearl Cluster

The coin pearl earrings have been one of the most popular earrings I have on the site and I was recently asked to make a necklace to be worn with the earrings.

I have bought a strand of beautiful coin pearls, the most I have ever spent on a strand of pearls, but these are stunning, very large peacock pearls, and I have kept them to make some cluster necklaces. So I am pleased to show you the first!

Apart from the coin pearl, I have used freshwater pearls, swarovski crystals and faceted labradorite in this necklace.

A Magpie

It was a day of antique hunting with Katie.

I came home with pretty, pretty teaspoons….

Ornate silver knives, which you can never have too many of….

Those shoe lasts – which I could kick myself for not buying the last time I saw them….

and the sweetest antique silver locket….

I fully accept that I am a true magpie, and am drawn to the shiny stuff… it was however Katie who brought home the feathers today!

The rest of the week is not looking nearly as rosy.

There will be absolutely no pics of Poppy on the blog today. This little baby bird was having it’s first “This is how you fly” lesson with it’s mother this morning when a certain hairy one brought it down to earth with a thump. There was a rescue.

Purple Hebe

There is a respite from the relentless rain we have been having, so I took lunch outside today. This purple Hebe is in full bloom and smells wonderful.

It was full of little skittish butterflies, which would all lift off whenever I tried to photograph them…. I got this one though!

These guys paid no attention to me and just carried on carrying on….

There was other gorgeousness outside as well.
